The Opteron isn't really within common market gaming as of yet. I'd wait a while, perhaps 6 to 8 months to get an Opteron. With $1000 being the max you want to spend, it'll be easier on your budget to get something less, perhaps a 2800 or so. I haven't had time to spec your system yet 2nd, but I should be able to do it this weekend. Can you wait that long?

If you can wait the P4 price cuts are in october with more in febuary, getting a Presscot in feb at 3.2 ghz for 280 something.
