Advanced Targeting - Sniper Bug/Cheat?

Greetings,

Was on Johari this past Friday, the 10th. Had set up position in the mountains to snipe the NC owned base Pele. Was getting some good kills and no return fire for about 5 minutes. Then someone kindly placed an AMS behind our position and there were about 20 snipers and striker/decimator users with me.

The NC had an AMS setup outside the main entrance midway between the wall. With Advanced Targeting, I could located the AMS and also see the NC as they spawned or ran to the AMS for reloads.

After killing several standing around the AMS, I get a /tell calling me a cheater.

Okay, I'm taking advantage of a high altitude view, very little hiding places for them. I've always been able to see "hidden" things with the advanced targeting .. if I happen to pan across it. Is this a bug/cheat? If so, I'll quit using it .. don't want to be like that. I can get sniper kills just as easily with players in the open.

Btw .. the NC finally got some of their own snipers and a couple Mosquitos to deal with us .. then there was that awful OS! Lotsa fun!

I'm not sure its a cheat, but it IS an exploit that the dev's just didn't think of. I'd use it to counter zergs, but if youre just out for fun, then it isn't much fun for the other guy. BTW now you've explained a problem some of my outfit members have been experiencing lately on Emerald (Digital Marines). Thanks.

Wow, didn't know that Adv. Targeting worked that way... talk about long-range DLV.

When I got sniped at the equipment terminal, I had chocked it up to a sniper spaming it, but now I understand what they were realy doing.

Thanks for bringing this exploit out into the open man.

Don't you have to be within something like 150 m. for the implant to work? Were you that close to the AMS, or was it still giving you info beyond that?

Bug. I've never seen anything like that happen on my system, or our weekly LAN parties of no less then 6 people. The health bar disappears the same time the name/outfit dose.

The sniper scope is buggy, it lets you see clokers better and there is a bug that lets you see the wepons of people under a cloak bubble, ADV targeting also lets you see the heathbars of cloackers somtimes

At the range I was .. all I could see was red to target. Occasionally I would see a health bar or two. Haven't been in a similar situation since the balance pass, will let ya know though. Thanks!
