There are multiple kinds of balance within videogames, Planetside has two mainly.

Empire vs Empire balance
And Game Design balance

If the devs put in a new weapon, called the Super cannon, made it fit in the pistol slot, kill in one hit, and had the rate of fire of a MCG, with no drawbacks, do you think it would be balanced because all Empires can use it?

Of course it wouldn't.

Things need to be balanced within the game design. This is apparant by just looking at the history of Planetside. The Lightning got an armor buff, the Reaver got a rocket nerf, etc.. All Empires have access to these weapons, but they needed to make them balanced within the whole game.

I was going to post something about the common pool argument being null and void but you summed it up nicely.

I know the CoF used to do the bloom animation, but its accuracy never got worse. I believe in its description that it (and the 20mm) is called a recoilless cannon.

I've always loved the mosquito. It drops reavers like nothing. Infantry too but if they're moving all over due to lag they appear to warp about making it a little hard to kill them.

It has a -15 CoF, meaning the the CoF is so great that the shots automatically aim themselves at the enemy with the lowest HP, right?

Harrasser only appears to have 0 CoF, under zoom it actually isn't full tight. The old skeeter CoF was never full tight to being with, now it is tight under 2x zoom. I will have to go into VR with range magnifier and check out if the CoF is tight all the way up to 12x.
