It radiates a stink. What's up with the Radiator? It makes a small damage-over-time area that lasts a few short seconds. Who would wield this in combat? A suicidal maniac perhaps. Plus you need an equipment module to even acquire it? I envisioned a weapon that would make an area hot for a good minute or two, but five seconds? That's just lame. Also, did Special Assault really need another weapon?

I'd literally double the power of the Radiator and make it a Heavy Assault weapon. Make it a real risk to try to run through a radiated zone. As it is now, I've literally never taken damage from a Radiator or seen one used in combat.

Granted, it's only one weapon, but I thought it might be a fun one. Not the way it is now, though.

Actually, it's the only weapon, besides the knife, that hits the health without touching the armor. It also acts right through vehicles, or so I'm told. It can kill a vehicles occupants if they are not paying attension. Plus the Radiator is one of the few weapons that can fire at long ranges and still keep it's damage over distance the same. That's because the damage doesn't start till it strikes something (Secondary fire mode), or reaches it's time limit to-hit (Primary fire mode).

However, it's not the fastest damaging weapon. Which is primarily why it's in Special Assault. The other reason is because it is only useful in certain situations. It is quit useful for making grunts run around like chickens with their heads cut off. Other than that, I don't really find too much use for the Radiator. It's good for spawn rooms, and it's good for the backs of AMS's. Keep people on their toes, so to speak.

It is the only weapon that will effect any number of soldiers with the exact same damage, no matter where in the field they are. But it damages per second, I believe. It's rather like the pain field, which does so much damage per second. As long as you remain in the field, you continue to take damage. but the second after you leave, the damage ceases.

It used to OWN in beta for CC. I was so happy with that gun and saw so many uses for it. When CC went live I was killing like mad then the whines of people got it nerfed to uselessness.

It has a few good things about it mainly to piss people off and make them get out from their cover.

Like a pesky vehicle, pop the sticky bomb right on it and it'll run away. Some sniper hiding behind a concret wall on the base, pop the front of that wall and he'll take damage on the other side, causing him to move.

Wish it was back to beta days damage wise though.

Radiator Sucks.

Here's the statement to determine if a weapon is good or not:

Code:
Private Sub Weapon_test()

Dim GRIEF as Int
Dim DAMAGE as Int
Dim STATUS as String

Docmd.Fire_Weapon
GRIEF = Friendly_Grief
DAMAGE = Enemy_Damage

If GRIEF > DAMAGE Then
   STATUS = "Teh Suck"
ElseIF GRIEF <= DAMAGE Then
   STATUS = "Good"
End If

MsgBox ("Wepon selected:   " & Current_Weapon & Chr(13) & "Weapon Status: " & STATUS)
As you can see, if the amount of damage done to the enemy outways the amount of grief done to yourself, then you have a great weapon. By running the Radiator through the above example, you can see that the grief output will be much higher than the damage output.

The gun is a lot of fun to play with but not that effective. I thought the effect would last longer too. Maybe if it were a pistol....Oh yeah that'd be kinda cool.
