Can I reformat with XP Pro upgrade cd?


I was wondering if I can reformat a hard drive using the xp pro upgrade cd. It gives me the option for a "new installation" but I think it means that its just replacing the the old windows files. Thanks for any help.

Nope sorry, u need the 6 boot disks, they will guide you through it...download them from the microsoft website.

So if I get the 6 boot disks I can use the upgrade cd to reformat or no ? I'm at a freind's trying to to do this on a old school comp with virus's on it. This pc really needs a reformat.

Ok nvm. We found a win2k pro disk and just installed that and then the upgrade. Its all kewl ! =)

Yes you can you just need an Old windows disk to show that the upgrade is valid
