Reichstag, the German word for capitol building.

I think the only way this works is if they add a totally new base to each map to be the capitol, without any facility benefits. If they just make current bases into capitols, it won't really be logical. The current bases can be sub-capitols, but not the capitol itself. That way, the capitol gets benefits of the other bases you have on the link.

I like the floating Scarabrae style base idea. Fighter-escorted galaxy/lodestar drops would become very popular, if not necessary. Throw a ramp onto the base and you could have fights for the drawbridge control room.

Being that all capitals are different depending on the region hopefully they will have different types of capitals. And they should make it where if the enemy captures one of the sub capitals thus bringing the sheild back online, in 2 minutes if you are still inside the sheild area you will be killed by a electrical shock or something.

In the impenitrable fortess, of course.

And what about the facility benifit that this base will provide? If it's an interlink, oposeing infils are compleatly fucked for the whole offenceive. Tech plant? There's no stoping those Reavers and medium tanks from roleing out. IMO, AMP stations, Bio labs, and Dropship centers give negligable benifits, though the Dropship is still very usefull for keeping vehicles fielded.
I wouldn't worry too much about these. The devs do want people to be able to demo bases to stop mod benefits, so I doubt that the capitol would allow you to place them. And they are quick to recognize problems in game play lately and have been good about changing them. :}

They've mentioned sanc strikes a few times and that was quite some time ago. I think this is a far better alternative :}

For all those anticipating this next addition to the game, don't get too excited. This is just an idea that is being thrown around. Such a change in the game play would definitely require a lot of new coding and graphics.

smokejumper also said that the building would probably just be a normal facility when first implemented because patching to update the maps are very large files and they have yet to code a way to make uploading map changes better.

Fly, couldnt they just have us download parts of the buildings over time and then at a certain date release the patch and install code and update all of the maps then? It might take a week or 2 to download but it would be worth it wouldnt it?

You'd think so, I mean, they did it with the GeoWarps.

I'd be willing to bet that planetside is script based, meaning they can add and remove things very easily. Look at the rocks they place over the beer holes. We didn't have to downlaod the entire map for that little change.

What he said. This guy has such awesome work, that I've linked his webpage on the BWC main page. I typically reserve that for official sites or well-known sites.
