It's virtually impossible to be a politician and not catering to big companies and lobbyists. You get campaign donations from them in return for promises to benefit them once you're in office. Those benefits are usually not for the good of the people, but to stay in business (get elected or re-elected), you follow up on what's good for business.

That sounds really circular right now. I'll try doing this again latre.

It is really nice that you want to become a politician and all, but it is not wise make that the single gole in your life. As you noted you will keep your options open for game designer and other things, but those are definantly not the kind of jobs that people like to see in someone in politics.
. Why? Well you are going to be competing against people who are coming from fields such as most notably medicine and law, which are highly respected. These offer a since of assuredness that you are a professional, who is willing to invest a lot of time and hard work into everything that you do. They also (usually) provide a financial basis that you can use while you are running for office (most likely not receiving substantial income at that time), and can supplement your election (and hopefully someday your reelection) fund.
. However another thing that you should consider is that you will not be jumping into campaigning for election after only a few years in these jobs. Usually future politicians get some experience in the system by serving as an intern for a senator (I think you said you were a teenager - teenagers can do this during high school summers), or more realistically working in a non-elected county position (during adulthood).
. You would then have to work your way up through the elected ranks (developing contacts), and unless you are squeaky clean, and have a superhuman personality (despite what people may say they want a superhuman to run their country, not some dolt who makes the same mistakes as the rest of us), you will probably not make it past a position in the House of Representatives.

I hope this offers a somewhat realistic view of political employment, and I am sure if it does not this will be pointed out.

Good Luck!

Sorry for all the () and run-on sentences. =/

Yeah, well obviously I couldn't start to be the head of a party. I will probably start off as some small town MP, or MLA. Then work my way up from there. Maybe they do want someone who was a lawyer or a business person, but do lawyers and business people want to become politicians? They are probably satisfied with thier current jobs. I dont think that being able to perform an open heart bypass surgery will help with an economic crisis. Working towards a high goal is good, but I dont think I am setting it too high. What politicians really need is a burning passion, or desire, a flame that I think I contain, or atleast have the spark for. I don't want fame and fortune, I don't want to change a single law, but I know I do want to set the world back on track. I have the proper ambitions, and am dedicated to what I beleive is right.
