Win 95 IE crashing

I dont actually use win 95, or use IE for that matter, however, I have been trying to help an attractive female who is having some trouble. She told me that her IE will get an illegal operation if she tries to start it. I remember encountering the same problem a few years back. Anyone have any solutions aside from upgrading, reformatting or defragmenting? Thanks.

Illegal operations are almost as fun as the Dreaded CRC error. They are so bland and so general, they could mean over 500,000 different things.

Look at the links below, in order to fix some illegal operations problems, you need to uninstall IE and then delete the Cached and history folders to completely clear IE of any backwater.

You can also try deleting the contents of the History folder and Temporary internet Files folders. They could contain bad variables.

Here is another article talking about illegal operations.

I would also suggest uninstalling and re-installing Internet explorer. What version of IE does she have?

erm... win95 isn't supported anymore. hell, i think it's open-source now. you should advise her on os/hardware upgrade instead, imo.

edit:

You could always just run a repair on IE. Just run "msinfo32", click tools, and it should have the option to repair IE. (This works in Win 98, I'm not sure if it works in 95 tho.)

Man, Windows 95 was a beast back in the day. The only reason I ever upgraded from DOS was to play EarthSiege2.

You upgraded from DOS to 95?! What about 3.1?

Man, 3.1 was the shizzle!
Then again, all you really needed back then was DosShell...
