One sig problem to another..

I was just wondering how many other people use Adobe Photoshop 7.0 here? And would anyone be willing to help me, as I'm having trouble getting rid of the crappy white bits that surround text and images when placed on a transparent background? You cant tell on a white background at all (see here ) but on the PSU forums it's not white (duh) so it shows up and makes the whole thing look very cheap. I've tried the different types of Anti-aliasing, and the different transparency dithers, but it's made little, if any difference. I know I could just use a very basic and simple font, but that's not really a solution, more of an avoidance.
The picture (my sig, in fact) that I'm trying to make look "less crap" :

Any help will be much appreciated.

First of all, is your text on a seperate layer?

Put a backround layer filled with the forum backround color behind all the other layers.

.gifs with transparency tend to get those white jaggies.

First off, yes it was a seperate layer for the text. Secondly, thanks for the idea about using the background colour. Is there a size limit on sigs here? (I'll look in the forum rules etc, if it's in there no need to tell me.)

sig limits

And an easier way to get rid of the white shit:

When you save it for the web, go to the matte options, and choose no color. Select the transparency type and set it to diffusion, at somewhere around 27 percent(works for me). Save it as a .gif.

Gif's are usually smaller than JPGs when it comes to small images, which is better for sigs.
