So what? Are all the bases just... empty? Do you just team death-match it for the first few levels with your pistols and common-pool basic weapons? Or would all the continents be completely empty while the first of us to subscribe cain through the simulator?
More daunting than that, what happens when the first person gets hacking? Who will stop his progression from base to base? Without a local respawn point for defenders, what stops him island hopping for 12 hours and taking half the map? What happens when he does take half the map and no-one else has hacking by that point? Who's gonna re-take for the other factions? Eh? Ultimately, what is going to stop the inevitable race to be the first hacker on your server? My brain was just ticking over the first week in the life of PlanetSide. Hope you enjoy the brainfood, thoughts? -RageMaster |

In addition to hacking speed, you can hack new and interesting things as you increase your cert level:
http://www.planetside-universe.com/c...p?p=sdCertInfo # Hacking Allows faster use of the REK for hacking of doors and control consoles, and also allows temporary use of enemy-held medical and advanced medical terminals. # Advanced Hacking Like Hacking, but also allows the use of enemy-held equipment terminals, air vehicle terminals and ground vehicle terminals. So someone with advanced hacking can actually change armors within an enemy base. Go in an infiltrator, come out a MAX. Or you could spawn yourself a tank from their terminal, or whatever. Much fun to be had with the advanced hacking cert.... and all at the enemy's expense. |

I got the idea while thinking about a couple movie quotes: "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" -- Apocolypse Now "This town needs an enema!" -- Batman And they become "I love the smell of NapalmEnima in the morning", and the quote in my sig. I used to just whip up a nic on the spot for whichever game I happend to be playing, but have settled on NapalmEnima (sci-fi type stuff) and LeadPoisoning (for 'realistic' FPSes). |
