Crashes to desktop

More games than normal have been CTDing for me. Half-Life, jDoom, and the Tony Hawk's demo my brother installed (damn you wee bull) are all CTDing like never before. Norton ran a virus scan with newest definitions, came up clear. Running Ad-Aware now.

What is wrong?

EDIT: I will defrag after Ad-Aware finishes.

The gun katas. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly.

Low free system space appears to have been the cause, I've deleted a few old games and it runs fine now. I went from 2% to 6%.

Haha, I totally get this same problem every couple of months. I think "fuck, my PC is dying! Fuck!", then I notice I have 500MB left on C:.

Wise Martyr speaks the truth. Create a partition, and place your page file on it. Much better performance if you don't have a GB of RAM.
