What do you guys think of a squad leader having the ability to bind his entire squad to a spawn point? Im thinking this would be in addition to your 1 personal bind. This way when you die you can spawn at your own bind (assuming you made one), the squads bind (assuming the SL made one), and 3 local spawns as determined normally.
This would help SLs keep their team together by allowing those without transport the ability to keep up more easily. Would this replace the Galaxy and other transports? Yes and No. Vehicular transports will always be superior in the initial attack on a new spawn. They allow you to show up in force and take the spawn. If the spawn is lightly defended or not defended at all the squad bind might be better. The SL can go there, bind, and then have the whole squad deconstruct and respawn. I thought this might be a cool way to help keep squads together. Players without aircraft certifications can get scattered and left behind especially if enemy activity is high. Finally, Id add binding points in towers. Im not sure why there are none now. If you can bind to any old AMS, why not a tower? At first I thought this could help attackers, but this would help defenders just as much.

When I first read this I really didn't like it. "Mass transit" (Gal, Del, Sun) are so rarely used that this is really going to punish them even further. Your problem of keeping squads together wouldn't be a problem if people used mass transit. You really do notice the difference.
However, it would give infiltrators a use if they could creep up to a panel and allow their whole squad to spawn in... dunno if that'd be overpowering and I expect it is. |

I'm all for it, mass transit is useful for assaulting positions where you can't spawn, so i don't see any conflict. Binding points in towers would be very nice too.

If added, the tower binding points would be dramatically different. A cloaker could then creep in, hack the tower, bind the squad, and then have them all show up. Powerful? Yes. Overpowering? Maybe. I can see a situation where a ninja hacks a heavily contested tower and then suddenly 9 heavily armed guys/MAX units spawn in the tubes. So if binds were allowed in towers and this squad bind were implimented I'd add a slight timer in the 3-5 minute range for the hack to go through. Instant has always been rather powerful, this idea might make that worse. All in all though you just can't beat a good old Gal drop. In fact helping Gal drops is what originally got me thinking of this idea. My outfit would drive an AMS out into the boonies, have everyone bind to it, and make GAL raids from there. Everyone spawns at the AMS, loads into the waiging Gal, repeat until your target is pounded into submission. The biggest pain in the ass was getting everyone to bind. Always someone forgets or does not bother... grrrr... So I was thinking is the SL can bind... and hence this thread was born.

An easier way to do this would be to change the 3 spawns and just add a 4th. The forth spawn is the nearest friendly spawn to your squad leader (tower, ams or base). That way, if your haring off halfway across the continent, you can quickly rejoin the squad by spawning at that nearest point to the SL. It wouldn't be overpowering in the least.

3 Spawns are automatic (the ones I was refering too), then you have your bindings (AMS/Base). Adding a 4th automatic (closest spawn to SL) would be a great addition.
