Thinking of getting into this game...

I love the look of Planetside, always have. I have one or two friends who play it.

My question is would i be able to run this game without much lag from the United Kingdom. I have..........

1 Gig RAM, Athlon 2800+ (2.8ghz), 160 Gig Drive, Saphire Radeon 9600 XT. I also have a Half Meg Broadband Cable connection.

I think I'm willing to pay the subscription fee but does anyone know how much this amounts to it � (Pounds Sterling) ??

Okie then matey. I guess to cut down on any possible server lag, I should choose the Werner server? Isn't that the Euro one?

How well would it run on Emerald? The East US server? I got a friend who plays there so I might end up going there.

Ping to Werner (Euro (think it's hosted in London)): 30ms 0% Packet Loss
Ping to Emerald (East US): 120ms 0.1% Packet Loss
Ping to Markov (West US): 170ms 0.5 - 1.7% Packet Loss

Doesn't really make much of a difference, except you get the occasional hate tell because you lagged and pwned some poor guy and sometimes people warp a bit more on the US servers.

you'd be fine:
Your machine is better than mine - but more so there are 3 servers to pick from
Do the 10-day trial for free, and take it from there: you will probably get better pings on the Europe or US East server.. but its an excellent game.

I'm an American and my main character is on Werner, it's not that big of a problem. I'm assuming it would work the same way from Europe to America.

The Black Widow Company, an Emerald Outfit, has members in England, the Canary Islands, and Japan, to name a few. The minute ping difference is not nearly as important as population.
