Go check out the Doom 3 review scans, they ran it "flawlessly" on a reasonable computer, and I'm pretty sure that the copies they get are beta and are generally less polished then the market versions.

Yeah, it's mainly a horror game, so I'm guessing there will be a maximum of about 3 monsters onscreen usually, so it shouldn't lag THAT bad.
