Okay... get this, I wanted to upgrade my 768mb of ram (pc3200, DDR400). So I decided I'd get a ram and buy another 256mb. Instead I spoil myself and get 512.
So I get home and install the ram into my MoBo. I turn on my computer and within a minute I start smelling smoke. So I quickly press the power button and shut down my computer. I don't see smoke but I smell it. I open my computer and pull out the ram I just installed. ITS FUCKING HOT! Compared to my other 512 and 256 I had already in my computer. Anyways I don't know why this happened. I went to turn my computer back on but my monitor doesn't work. So I swapped my 9600XT 128MB and put in my old 9000 128mb. Now it works. So I put my 9600 back in and it works. Afterwards I went back to the store to get a refund. Instead they give me a new one. They said it was the exact same but a different company. I installed it and it works. So now I have 1.25 gigs of ram. I was happy about this at first until I realised my computer kept crashing and I couldn't install anything onto my computer. I submitted an erorr log to microsoft and they told me it was a grahpic driver device causing my compter to crash. So I swapped my graphic cards again and put in my 9000. After 2 hours it seems everything is okay now. Except it would seem 300 bucks have gone down the drain on my 9600XT. It must of fried or something. Im very pissed about this. Can someone please tell me what happened to my computer?????

God damn it, if he didn't ground himself, I'm gonna have a spontanious combustion.
That's the 64515161654th time I've heard a story like this. GRAB YOUR CASE BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING INSIDE! (or for more security, hold one hand on the case while working inside.) |
