Reformatting

So my younger brother was using my computer and irrepibally dammaged it with spy ware. I was forced to reformat, I was able to log on in safe mode and save a large ammount of my stuff. My question is that if I saved all the Patch1-5 folders out of the PS directory will that make it so I dont need to patch or at the very least minimize my total patch time?

i believe it will, but definitely do a full scan.

in the future if you have any serious crashing trouble or other instability with PS, just reinstall it completely

I think you may have misunderstood. The spyware didnt really mess PS up. It messed my WHOLE system up. Sound no longer funcioned and IE would randomly cause system lockups, eg: Non-functional. The reformat is done and PS along with eve online and my random programs are back on-line. A nice smooth and clean system!

If you dont want firefox and want to keep explorer then open explorer and:
Tools < internet options < Security tab < Custom Levels

SpywareBlaster is pretty good if you have a dumb bro that downloads way too much porn the app just takes a massive directory of sites that gives you spyware and adds them to your restricted sites list.
