Ram

Howdy folks. I'm looking into purchasing either A) a new stick of RAM (512 DDR333...mine is SDRAM) or B) 1.5gb of something better than I have already
(I already have a Gb) So my question is what is the difference between SDRAM and SO-DIMM. Also, what do ECC and Unbuffered mean? Do I need that? I've heard that Corsair has the best RAM is this true? BTW my system specs are AMD Athalon XP 3000+ Abit NF7-S, ATI Radeon 9600 Atlantis PRO 256mb Audigy 2 ZS, Western Digital 7200rpm 120Gb SATA HD. a 450W PSU, and 1Gb (512X2) Kingston pc2700 DDR333-SDRAM. Please help out

so no point w/ the 3 slots?

so if I do decide to uprgade, I should just get 2 512 sticks of pc3200??

Also I heard that if I put a stick of DDR2 stick into my slot 3 then it will work duel channel w/ the other two sticks. Is this true?

Also, would it be worth it getting 2 gig sticks that are duel channeled? or are they unstable/not worth the money?

(also could some1 supply me with a link to good memory?)

Well... fi you have SDRAM in your motherboard can the motherboard use DDR? Or are you planning on buying a new one.

I have SDRAM, and I wanted to get DDR I would need to buy a new motherboard.

nope not realy a gig is all you need and a dual channeled gig is beter than single channel 1.5gig

yes and take out the other stuff and sell it(unless you need it for a diff comp). But make sure your CPU has a 400mhz Front side bus

no, DDR2 is totaly different from DDR1, diferent sized pins, differenet voltages and different method of sending data, if you could force DDR2 to fit in a slot you would ruin it and your mobo.

no, they are not worth the money, they have slow CAS latencies and would probably end up hurting performance.
