My Calc teacher uses a smartboard for everything, it's awesome.

The nintendo DS makes great use of the touch screen it has, works like a mouse for FPS games, or for RTS.

Honestly, using a touch screen to play an RTS seems to overcomplicate it... also, it would seem to me, that it'd be a lot more difficult to micromanage using a touch pad.

I tried playing UT2k4 using a touchpad once.... didn't do very well

I dunno, if you set the game up with touch screen in mind it would work pretty well for RTS games provided you could have an interface different from the mouse frameset of right clicks etc.
