The iPod may be capable of outputting 115 decibels, but it also has a volume control.

They may be loud, but I can't get the damn earbuds to stay in my ears properly.

Well, that sucks.

Guess It's good I don't blare my iPod full volume, like just about every black/wannabe at my school does with theirs. I'd love to see them in 10 years.... "WHAT!??!" "YEAAAAAA!"

Headphones are good, but they suck for the gym. I use headphones for music on the computer, and things like that, but I have to use earbuds for the gym, as headphones fall off too easily while running and other things of the sort.

Same for me, plus Earbuds are easier to sneak around in school, not some huge set of headphones that you can see from a mile away. I use those for the computer, earbuds for everything else.

And sound quality isn't that bad on earbuds either, unless you pump the volume up all the way like a retard, like this article is saying :P

Indeed, I had a set of default iPod earbuds, but they decided to break, and the sound quality wasnt that great in the first place, so seeing the price on the higher end apple earbuds, I said screw it, and went out and bought $15 earbuds from sony, they work great, but of course, when you turn the player up really loud, they sound awfull. I have always wondered why people would listen to an mp3 player on full blast, it just sounds terrible.

Yep. I have my volume locked to a certain level so that I can go all the way up but it isn't the loudest the iPod can go, so I never get the crappy sound.

My default earbuds were acting weird so I used some others, they sounded like utter crap and broke after 2 days of using them, compared to the iPod default's that I'v had for months. And they still sound great.

I don't know what ipods you guys are using, but my 2nd gen is so god damned quiet. I literally have it at probably 90% and I feel that is comfortable outdoors and i have it about 75% indoors.

Maybe I'm going deaf D:
