So I'm off to college in the fall and I need a laptop. Now seeing as many of you are already there or were, I thought I'd inquire as to your opinions. I am taking my desktop as well, so no thought needs to be put into gaming or such things.
Here is what I am currently looking at: http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/notebooks/t...s_byo_r52.html Thoughts? |

My thoughts:
I think that it's not the right place to ask for advice for a comp-purchase on the tech-forum of a PlanetSide game, do you ? Even less so if the rig will not be for gaming, right ? Though, I'd say take everything on the page you linked. And some more. Oh, did you have a budget ? Some special needs ? You would be better adviced to go through some review-articles ... http://www.tomshardware.com/index.html |

Traditionaly, the tech forum was a place to dicuss any and all tech realated thingies, not just for help and support(I used to be the mod here, befor the shutdown) Any way, I'm in teh same position as you Kam. I think I'm gonna end up with a mac book, you get a nice student discount(and free Ipod), and the system is quite reasonably priced for what you get. I was looking at some thinkpads, but for some reason I always felt unsatisfied with what I could get together.

Lets leave tomhardware out of this.
Laptops are easy to make a decision on. Know what you need it for and an amount you are willing to spend, and hit up pricegrabber. I nabbed one that does all i need it to for under $600.
