I just recently decided to try Planetside again, and have just finished installing. When it starts "connecting," the game locks up and I have to reboot my computer.
Now, I consider myself fairly computer competent, and have tried all the usual tricks (my drivers are updated + official, definately not a memory problem, disabled acceleration once, no luck) Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 GS if that helps any.

This is probably a firewall issue... at least it was with me. My game would freeze everytime I tried to connect. Once I shut down Zone Alarm (my firewall program), however, I was able to connect just fine.
So first off, make sure you're not in conflict with whatever firewall you're using.... |
