Hey folks.. this is directed to you super-techs out there who also use Firefox.
I've been using FF for a long time, and I know its ins and outs, but I can't for the life of me figure this one out. At the current moment, I have my most-frequented websites in a small, open area of my FF browser window that is easily accessible. (see screenshot below) However, one of the favicons there is not correctly displayed. (see BLUE arrow in screenshot.) I don't know how to make it show up correctly, so I come to you guys. The correct favicon (arrow in red) that should display can be viewed at https://portal.samford.edu/cp/home/displaylogin Currently, the favicon displayed is the Google one. Any tips? Screenshot:

I had a Google icon take over one of my favourites. Simply go into bookmarks.html (under C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\) and open it with Notepade or Wordpad. Find the link to the effected bookmark and there should be a ICON field with a bunch of gibberish in it. Delete the ICON field and Firefox should get the proper icon next time you visit.
Not sure if this will work for those buttons on the top menu. Edit: You'll probably have to restart FF to see the change.

As I posted earlier, there is no bookmarks.html in the local settings/profile folder. In fact, the only bookmarks.html on my entire computer is located in Program Files/Mozilla/Firefox/defaults/profiles/bookmarks.html, and that file is just the default bookmarks that come with firefox.

Does anyone have their Firefox sometimes decide to open the Find feature all by itself?
Example: I start up PSU, and go to type in my user name. Suddenly, I notice that the firefox Find feature (for searching for a word within a web page) is open, and any text I type goes into the Find box and not into any input boxes on the website. I can close the Find box, but as soon as I type anything again, it reopens and my text goes back into the Find box. It's frustrating as all shit, and usually has me cussing at my computer and pounding on the keyboard. Reloading the page doesn't fix the problem, my only option is to Alt-F4 the Firefox window, and open a new one. It does this about 10***37; of the time after I've started a new Firefox window, at random. |
