Post Global Warp Queuing

Sporkfire has posted some interesting news about the warpgates and HART shuttle. It should help with the wait...
We will be reworking the continental travel systems (warpgates and HART shuttle) so that players who are attempting to enter a population locked continent will be placed in a queue, so that they enter the continent in the order they arrived and are given continual updates regarding their position in the queue. This system gives players information that they can use to decide whether to continue trying to enter a continent of move on to another.
When a player enters a Warpgate and tries to enter a population locked continent, they will be placed into the continents queue. They will be informed of their place in line to enter that continent through an in-game dialog. A small UI window will pop up displaying the following information:
  • Name of the target continent they are in the queue for
  • Current place in line ( 5 out of 10 )
  • A cancel button to quit out of this queue
Once a player enters the Warpgate to enter the queue, they are free to travel anyplace on the continent, and will be transported to the queued continent when their turn in the queue comes up.

A vehicles place in a queue is determined by the driver. All passengers are stripped of any queues they are in when they enter the vehicle (as with rule 2 above) and become dependant on the drivers queue. They see the same queue information and window. If a passenger clicks the cancel button they are ejected from the vehicle.
Players who are in the HART will be able to double click on locked continents and chose their drop location. Once they click the drop button they are entered into the queue and continue to look at the map with the queue window up. They can go out to the global view and view other continents without affecting their status in the queue. If they click cancel they are removed from the queue but stay at their current map view. They can then choose another location to drop from. If that continent is also locked, they will enter its queue.
The following actions will remove players from the queue:
  • Dying
  • Entering a vehicle as a passenger or driver (this includes turrets, implant terminals and any other vehicle )
  • Entering a Warpgate (which would clear any queue information and allow them to re-enter a queue or go to another continent)
  • Entering the Hart
  • Buying a vehicle (which would enter that vehicle, see #2 above)
  • Clicking the Cancel Button
Logic Lattice Unit carriers can not enter queues, just as they are not allowed to warp while carrying such an item. Should they enter a vehicle whos drive is in a queue, they will not remove the driver from their place in the queue, but they will invalidate that drivers spot in line. The driver will be given a message should a LLU carrier enter their vehicle. This will allow the driver to remove them to keep their eligibility for travel when their place in the queue comes up.
