So locking yourself inside your home and never going outside?
That's pretty much the only way I could see to be out of the loop on something that was one of the more major stories in some time here in the US. If you have a job, or exit your home at any time during the day your chances of hearing about it are extremely high unless you are actively attempting to bury your head in the sand. |

Not really. You'd literally have to live under a rock with zero contact to the outside world. These days that's few and far between. Every even-halfway-major radio station had the news. Every newspaper had it as front-page news. Every TV station with a news program had it. Every web-news website had it - and I'm not just counting CNN.com, also places like Yahoo.com with its news bulletins and places like it. Then don't discount people making phone calls to share the good news (I texted my dad at around midnight, then he called), especially because you have a significant portion of the American population who have a loved one or the friend of a loved one serving in the military and they would have been impacted. Example - I left the Army in 2004 and did some "contracting" for a short while. I went downrange. It's been six-seven years since then, but I still had a lot of emotional investment in seeing that cocksucker killed or captured. When I heard the news, I sobbed like a baby and proceeded to slaughter a 12-pack of Guinness and my remaining five/six bottles of Stella. For damn near three hours I cried because I was so happy, and during that time there was a significant fellowship online and via phone with my battle buddies and my dad.

Apologies for the constant typo's, was pretty early in the morning.
And regardless of how this country falling apart affects us back home, most of us generally don't care. You really wouldn't understand unless you came here. These people are letting themselves fall apart, we've done all we can, and they want us out, so be it. They are taking back more of their land from our FOB's every month. They just reclaimed FOB Slayer. We gave them the tools to become a great nation, and they took it for granted, which is a part of their culture. They believe the country will fix itself, if Allah wills it. And decide only to work for it when it is "dictated by Allah" They are a truly lazy, backstabbing, greedy, unappreciative people as a whole. So yea, I don't care if they fall apart. |
