Like Airlift said, I think SOE/verant are tapping into the cut-throat PvP market here.

If someone is looking for love, peace and harmony in an online game, I don't think they will be running to a FPS.

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to say. The cooperative gaming market is definately huge, and probably larger on the whole than the competitive gaming market, but this game falls squarely into the latter category. For gamers seeking a shiny happy gaming experience, SOE would like you to consider Star Wars Galaxies or the Everquest franchise. Planetside is for those of us who would rather blow large holes thru the abdominal cavities of our fellow gamers.
