I'm still kinda assuming that the class or role you are currently playing is independent of the skill you currently have set to train at some console somewhere.

In case you actually meant "Tank" as in the MMORPG concept of a tank, then i would say that I doubt you can spend a year just specialising on REXO health and armor. The "infantry tank" spec is basically a MAX unit anyway.
I assume there will be a shitload of skills for MAX armor progression (tank spec), a similar shitload of skills for medic, engy, hacking skills (support spec), a whole bunch of damage skills and tweaks for various infantry weapons (DPS spec) and then a few that are common to all infantry.

If it is like EVE, i expect that you can only train one individual skill at a time, however you will most likely be able to switch between training different skills from any of the different areas, such as infantry health, vehicle top speed, mosquito radar range etc...
I would say if you can also train your skills while you are offline, like in EVE... then it is unlikely that you actually have to be playing a certain role in order to complete the time required to train a related skill.
