I'm pretty sure this will not be on PS3 but PS4. There is no way a PS3 can handle this game with how it will be on the PC right now. Like others have said even a PS3 may struggle with the original PS. I see this being a good launch title for the PS4 if it really is coming out late next year. SOE can finish the PC one first and then do the final touches on the console version.

Definitely a PS4 game, Smed has already given us a few hints indicating so.
Doesn't make me any less apprehensive, especially since there is now a risk that PS2 may become another game dumbed down far to much because the average console player can't read and believes that if they utter enough profanities, people won't notice how high pitched their voice is.

A "stay tuned" is far from certainty, far from "we are thinking about it" even further from "we are examining the possibilites", and it is as far as it can be from "we are working on it and will make it happen by 2012.". Don't panic! Smed as the CEO of SOE cannot allow himself to close this door (PS2 on PS3) making millions of PS3-owners simply move on when they see a Planetside 2 article. They are a much larger playerbase than the potential PS2 players, so he must keep an eye on their reactions too. |

Pay attention to what was actually said, namely "or other Sony console platforms". So it doesn't mean that it will neccessarily be on the Playstation 3. As the OP said, it's highly unlikely the PS3 could run Planetside, so let's keep common sense in check here before we start prematurely reporting on the game's demise.

Since he's so vague, another thing to think about, they do want the game to "interact" with other games in the same universe. Like how EVE does with Dust 514. So they could get one of these games on the ps3 or even somethin on the Vita. Who knows.
