I think he also said in one of his tweets that we would be disappointed in the beta date, which is kind of a hint that it is a long way off. I'm sure they have a schedule, and I think if the beta date was firm and soon they might have told us already. I'm beginning to wonder if we'll have beta before the next Fan Faire.
Seems the only thing we have confirmed at this time is that launch will be before the end of the world. (12/21/12)

I think the key word was "that marketing wants me to give" which is probably something vague and generally generic like "sometime in 2012". Which is why he said we'd be disappointed.
I'm tempted to make a witty quip about SOE marketing, and draw reference to their non-existent billing of Planetside. And how there can't possibly be a marketing department. But I won't. Because I'm choosing optimism this time around.

Instead of everyone waiting for a beta date and yes as good as it sounds , we're getting planetside 2 , why don't you all play some other games to pass the time , like BF3 MW3 SKyrim and there is plenty of new games out there . The game i really wan't is planetside 2 but something tells me that we're not getting it anytime soon . Forget about planetside 2 and enjoy some other games and hey before you know it we get a ps2 beta invite
