Honestly I hadn't heard that until the Kanye song so I would have thought the same thing.

the song came out on the Album Discovery years ago, i remember the first time i actually heard the song was on Toonami (back when it was awesome with Tom) and they played the video for it which was a clip from Interstella 5555 which has pretty much every song from the album as its "script"

EDIT: once you get past the guy in the beginning, the music starts.
