i like the outlook and mindset of the developers working on ps2.
this is what every dev team should be like, high morale, good work ethic, understanding the customer base, seeing us as gamers not mere figures on a pie chart. i am extremely pleased with the way soe has handled the public relations during the development this game. in the internet and multiplayer age gaming companies need to develop a much deeper connection and trust with their playerbase. i highly look forward to the finished game. For example, my friend Buzz just put a lot of work into debating an issue you chose to make public and you quoted it as literally "BLAHABLAHBLAHABLAH" while simultaneously acting like some arbitrator of people skills. Last edited by Ghryphen; 2011-12-12 at 03:15 AM. Reason: Consecutive posting |

Hamma's original post was about accepting what information we get and not letting our own expectations cloud our perspective. He didn't make claims about SOE having a perfect track record, or say that people posting negative comments were trolling, or anything like that. Of course the dev team is trying to hype of the game, but they also seem genuinely excited about the project. Of course Hamma want's the devs to keep coming to PSU, but he has also been a longstanding supporter of the Planetside community. So he was a bit flippant with an off topic comment. Where did he ever demand people be super serious and totally respectful in every post? If Hamma really wanted to be a suck up to the devs, he could be just banning everyone who said anything remotely negative. So far he's been pretty cool about letting people speak their minds pretty extensively. We're all PS1 fans and I assume we all want to see PS2 be even better and more successful. If not, why even be here? We could just write off the first game as dead and buried and move on. I feel like some players (not talking about people in this thread) would be better off just forgetting that the devs come here and wait for beta to start following it again. I'm not talking about people who disagree with or debate about changes and new game systems that they think will hurt the game, that's an important part of the community. I'm just talking about people who think that the fact that we've seen the Magrider means that we are entitled to see every MAX suit and Heavy Assault gun this instant. The game clearly has a ways to go, given what we know of it's progress and given the fact that no beta date has been released. it would behoove us all to just keep some perspective. |

With the greatest respect it is Hamma's fan site he is running for an established number of users and a community which has existed since 2003. If he feels self important about it that is not really for you or me to decide, it is certainly something to be proud of though. If he wants to maintain the integrity of his boards and cut out some of the negativity which is becoming more and more prevalent in posts that is his choice. Again with the greatest respect he does have Developers having open dialog on his boards do you think that happened by accident? Do you think the majority of the community want that to stop? Should that be soured by a few people who either troll or do not have the self awareness to think that the Internet is not a giant sound board for them?
A lot of boards have a much stronger administration policy exercise your right of choice if you want and don’t like what the person paying for the hosting and delivering the free service is saying. To spark a debate though I find your views incredibly insular and I have not made my mind up about being self serving yet. |

Just my 2 cents. Most of the negative things I see posted here on a daily basis have been alarmist and exaggerated views based off of a poor understanding of the information released thus far. Not to say that there hasn't been some genuinely controversial issues brought up, but as a critical observer, my overall impression is that the devs have a very solid grasp of what they are doing. This is why I try not to get hung up on the trivial things that I may not agree with. Remember this game is a WIP up until release.
On a side note, as an artist myself, I rarely ever show anyone my work until it is completed. Why? because sadly, most people seem to lack the vision to spot potential. |

Tell that to the depressives that make the best metal from their tortured minds.
Anyway, other than Guild Wars 2 (because good design is so rare in MMOs today) PS2 is the only MMO/large scale multiplayer game/thingy thing wit more than one other person Im interested in. If it sucks I will know but no one can tell that until close to launch at the earliest really. So Guild Wars 2 then, DAT DESIGN!!! |

Captain is correct this thread has run it's course.
Thanks to the community for understanding where I am coming from and defending my position against what is an obvious arrival by several new members attempting to troll and create forum unrest. I have allot of pride in this community and I do this day in and day out for the community and nothing else. On the bottom of my list is my sense of self importance. The community continues to impress me every day, specifically in response to the above obvious troll.
