Promotional Video ideas for SOE.

Juts some ideas about promotional videos for SOE.

I really like the turn table videos, they looked fantastic, but also we should have many more before beta.

Ideas:

1. Continent run!

Video of a run from one side of a continent to another, slightly speeded up to match the 10 min mark on YouTube.

2. Time lapse.

Other games have done it, so why shouldn't SOE, show off that nice new game engine, sky, and weather effects.

3. Base CCTV

Video created as if it was done from a base CCTV system. Empty base showing all its nice new shiny bits.

I know SOE will have most of these ideas covered, but it never hurt to help out a little.

Your ideas folks?

You know the WH40k DoW cinematic intros?

Yea one of those... Also on the side-note of videos i think it would be cool to have a video after you've picked a faction giving you lore/background similar to EVE onlines.

All three of them would be awesome

(and anyone remember this?)

I'd like to add two more.

1) 1st person HUD view showing a big tank squadron on their march to enemy city. Some troopers advance along the tanks, with buttloads of planes(inverted V formation) coming into view from behind. (+ god rays)

2) Clouds. Awesome dogfights in/above/beneath the cloud layers.

Three animated or game footage/voice over propaganda videos from each of the factions as to why their side is "right"

Video starts out with no music, just the sounds of a vehicle convoy driving and from first person perspective. Then it switches to 3rd view and the sound of aircraft coming fills the speakers. The entire convoy then is bombarded to bits, the camera quickly leaves the vehicle and jumps to a side cinematic view of one of the passing aircraft. It switches to 1st person for a few moments showing the HUD and the view of the pilot flying towards a base in the middle of a war with his other wingman. Warning signals flash his HUD and the camera switches to the outside of the vehicle as it is destroyed by AA rocket. Camera seamlessly zooms to the infantry who fired on that wall and slowly pans to his back showing his view of the oncoming force towards the base

Camera switch to a side view of a TR MAX stomping down and humming up his chain guns and mows some infantry down. Switch to behind the MAX 's back as it slowly pans left showing the infantry being mowed down. Camera switch to two infantry hiding behind a corner from the MAX's fire where one pops out and destroys it with some rocket while the second one runs out and starts healing their fellow infantry detroyed by the MAX

Idk where to go from there. Just have a good vid show casing all the possible roles in the game. And please end with a Galaxy pilot winking at the screen and pulling the galaxy into the sunset in the distance saying, "In the pipe, 5 by 5"

Yeah, something like that, just tracking a chain of events through a massive fight. A dies, go to B(its killer), to C, to d, to e, etc. Somewhere in there a fighter kills something, then flies off to another base(showing off scale).

Better yet, do that in reverse, showing the exploded vehicles/dead infantry springing back to life in reverse, then tracking the bullet back to whatever fired it, ending with the troops flying up to their galaxy.

it´s all about the scale! it´s a must, to show off, how many players are going to kick each others asses here!
that´s the one thing that makes planetside so different.

right at the beginning of a video it should be made clear that everything in the game is playercontrolled pvp action! no scripted action movie pve stuff. and after the viewer understood that... show off some outfit event coordinated attack like in that old ps1 video! formation flying, hotdropping, mass tank attacks, the full scale!

but it´s really most important to let the viewer know, what he sees there! every modern fps has nice action packed big battle scenes, but it´s all just a scripted movie set. in ps2, everything is real battle of real players, not just eyecandy for the background

For TR, get Ennio Morricone, the guy who did the theme for Inglorious Bastards, and have him compose an ominous march for 500 of us to march in lockstep to. Have 2 columns on either side of a large phalanx of tanks, with around 100 aircraft doing flybys in various formations. Do it up all imperial march style. This warhammer 40k quote is also appropriate to the TR-"For the God Emporer, because 100 trillion screaming fanatics can't be wrong."

Then owned by a VS in his PJ's!! And only a suppressor to keep him company, that's how the VS roll.
