Sun glare discussion

I have been reading about the game quite alot and noticed abit of theorycrafting going on, My theory is about how sunglare could effect one team and deny them of a particular resource on a continant.

Generally in planetside 1 your team could only spawn at a particular gate and had to take bases in a specific order sometimes you might have 2 or 3 routes to choose from but you generally pushed in one direction.

So my main theory is if a similar stratagy in the game is your forced to start in a particular location and have to push north then the team defending the north will get sun glare and always be at a disadvantage attacking and defending.

So will a stratagy of only attacking a specific continents at night be a must or willl the glare be negligible.

The sun actually moves in this game. I have a major issue with the thing you are describing in BF3. The sun is always at the same spot so in fe. Caspian Border if you try to attack Hilltop from Forest, you're gonna be blind.

But yes, the day-night-cycle actually works in this game and it's not 1:1 with real life, so you wont always have the sun in the same position if you always play at the same time.

But yes, one day during a certain attack you might be screwed cos the sun is blinding you, but the next time it might be other way around.

Re: Sun glare discussion

I guess it depends how the sun moves. will it rise in the east set in the west or would it be somewhat random where the sun rises causing a luck effect.

I would agree on the sun in bf3 this is the main reason I was thinking about it for this game. I do look forward to playing some night games.

Yeah I'm expecting this time round we can use nature to our advantage or have it be our disadvantage. The leader roles will have a hell of a time.

Toggling:
  • Automatically Toggled by the game and;
  • Manually Toggled with one of two distant keyboard buttons: [ ] ; ' , . /
Conditions:
  • Unlit Night (Nightvision).
  • Beaming Sun (What's this called?).
  • Thick Fog (Motion Field Detection).
  • Chunky Smog (Nothing. Contemporary visual reduction.)
  • Volcanic Ash-Cloud (Nothing. Contemporary visual & aerial obstruction.)
  • Steam-Cloud Geezers (Nothing. Minor visual obstruction.)
  • Invisibility (Darklight*).
This could be more elaborated in PlanetSide2. e.g. While it can fully detect a claoker, by enabling Darklight on your helmet you can also see other sources distracting your detection. A friendly Infiltrator of course but also other non-cloaked things.

    * This would have to be a separate key (Button: ` )
    (Manual Toggle only!)

Guess you have to adapt to the situation. A day-night-cycle make for interesting gaming. Add some adverse weather effect and it would be swell.

I think sun glare will be an awesome part of the game. if you're clever, you can plan attacks around it.
People will rage about it, but only because they got butt hurt.

Yeah, with some organization, you can make people push from the the direction the sun is shining from. It'll shine in your back while blinding the defenders

I think it would be great if you'd been indoors for a while where there are no windows and suddenly, you step out into the open air and get blinded by the intense light flooding the landscape.

Play in a dark room. It will have a somewhat similar effect. But, I understand you mean the graphics shown you from the screen are all washed-out with PS2-produced dazzle.
