I don't know of any upcoming price cuts incoming. The current AMD line is likely to stay intact until the 7700 and 7800 series show up. When those come out you will see the 6800 and 6900 series drop in price in order to clear stock.
The 7970 just hit retail today and we will have to wait to see if Nvidia will price drop their cards. Dropping the 580 down to a lower price bracket will likely force a drop on their entire GTX line of cards. Nvidia has nothing to compete with AMD at the moment at the highend is why.
