Why is there no sentient alien 'Ancients'? Epic Solarstorms
If they can traverse across universe, why don't they come back? Fear of Supernova.

Stages of a dying Star:

1. Just before explosion (Aliens flee their doomed solarsystem with Warpgates): A red super-giant star approaches the end of its life. There is no more fuel to burn and make it shine. Soon its massive dense core is bound to collapse under its own weight.
2. The first light flash (All alien life assumed dead): The core collapses and sends a shock wave out. For a few hours the shock compresses and heats the envelope, thus producing a very bright flash of light from the inside of the star.
3. The flash has gone (Auraxis became habitable for humans somehow): After hitting the surface at 50 million km/h the shock blows the star apart. The core turns into a neutron star, a compact atomic nucleus with the mass of the Sun but 10 km in size.
4. The proper Supernova! (Humanity's doom!): The hot glowing surface expands quickly making the fireball brighter again. In a few days it will be 10x the size of the original star and will be discovered by supernova hunters.
5. A long time after (SOE disposes of PlanetSide 2): The remains of the former star are spread over light years of space. They keep floating quickly, sweeping up interstellar gas here and there, leaving a faint beautiful glow behind.

Sound logical and comprehensible? :P

Okay, but what does that have to do with us as human being on Auraxis.

Given that we already know this about a star, we are unlikely to settle a planet that we know is headed for destruction. We would very much like to place a probe in such a system to observe the event and learn from it, but we aren't stupid enough to settle a planet.

Unless this is your suggestion for how PS2 can be wound up, lore-wise. Which is good and makes sense, but right now, I totally don't give a rat's ass.

Keep in-mind that this is all suggestive for the developers to consider the design of Auraxis's immediate solarsystem affects on the alien planet, visually and ________ (forgot the word ..).
Researching reason to revisit design if we may...

The wormhole takes humanity to unknown place in the universe, I think, right?
When the 237 star cruisers are wormholed into this strange place and Auraxis being the only feasible planet to live on, also considering the reliability of a wormhole, may just have been a matter of contemporary settlement for exploration at first, and then alien settlements were discovered. Now the Wormhole closes and humanity is shit scared -- LETS BLOW SHIT UP!!
