Overheating may be a problem, unless you have the lower-power C64C

I waited and saved 10 years before I finally pulled the trigger to build the PS2 Gaming Rig I posted. It replaced an equally old computer and tube. Great fun to build. Wonderful learning experience. Would do it again if I ever cobble the funds again to do another one. I almost cried at the difference. In fact, the monitor quality is so good, I questioned the fact that my backups were transferred successfully as the images from my camera were just so grainy. Turns out my settings on the camera weren't right - yet I never knew this for the past 5 years I've had the camera because my old computer and tube just missed those details. I can see things in pics and stuff I've never seen before, and the speed... wow. 14 second boot up from power button to Google. 4.3 minutes with the old machine.
Its dedicated to music development and PS2 when it comes out. I don't think I will wait that long again before building another. Last edited by inigma; 2012-01-16 at 06:39 PM. |

but i must have the other version that looked almost like the amiga somewhere in the attic as well. but i fear the forgelight engine will have a little trouble with the low resolution ;-) @ grognard: did you ever use the 128 mode? i had a 128 D and i always switched it back to c64 mode so it was kind of a waste. figured out that there even are network modules out there for the c64 and you could even use a browser Hurtz! if you make ps2 compatible to the c64 you are my hero! now if that´s not a challenge, what is one?

Current rig is:
2600k @ stock (will OC this once I actually need to) 16Gb RAM PC3 12800 MSI GTX 580 Twin Frozr II OCZ 120Gb Vertex 3 SSD 8TB HDD space 30" 2560x1600 monitor I've been PC gaming off my projector recently, I have a 1080p LCD projector in the living room at about 120" so I'll probably put PS2 on that and play some games from the sofa, that's a lot of fun!

I'm afraid the schedule doesn't allow for changing the laws of physics this time around.
