I think you've find that fighting up close with me will be a Bad Idea. Unless you like kissing tank bumbers, that is, in which case be my guest.
I figure the fastest way to get powerful with the fewest certs will be to get a vehicle cert. Based on what's now available, I'll go for the Lightening first. So please, lets fight up close. I think you'll look great with a big tank tread-mark down the middle of your back... it really sets off the goo squirting out of your eye sockets. |

Granted, I haven't kept up, but Back In The Day it was stated the vehicles were not free. They didn't just spawn on the battlefield and then you jumped in one.
First you'd have to get certified to drive the proper vehicle, apparently through an in-game test. Then you have to spend some character-cash to purchase the vehicle, which is then yours. Presumedly similar to purchasing your weapons in Counterstrike. Also apparently, enemy hackers can steal your vehicle if left unattended, but presumedly same-team hackers cannot, because that wouldn't make any sense from a game play perspective. I wouldn't doubt if some vehicles are free, perhaps the quad-wheeled bike, for example, is something anyone can just run to the shop and pick up for a dime, but I'd be amazed if a tank was something freely available or "first come first served". Doling them out for cash would make much more sense. If you buy one, then immediately lose it, it's time to go frag some enemies the hard way til you can afford a new one. |

Yeah a C&C:Renegade method would be cool.
You want that ultra heavy duty tank, go get some frags/cash. I'm also sure i read somewhere that guns and vehicles would cost something. If not people would simply take the most powerful gun and tank all the time. Boring |

Vehicles dont just spawn, and there is no economy.
You must certify for a vehicle, then you can go get one. However, you cant just spawn one, go die one minute later then spawn another. They have put in place timers to prevent that. So the cost of a vehicle is "time" A vehicle that you spawn is YOURS, nobody else can pilot it unless you set permission to allow them. So there will be no running around TKing ala BF1942. Plus, you get grief points and get banned/trigger locked if you do that. There was a bunch of discusison on vehicles and their cost in the recent Developer Chat: http://www.planetside-universe.com/a...hp?articleId=6 Its near the bottom of page one |
