Rotating Starting Positions.
Every month rotate the starting positions of each faction. This will give all the developers even more replay value for all the energy/work involved. Things will be fresher for longer for each player, as the approach to certain areas and targets will change, the map will be more dynamic not less. It'll be longer before the been there done that feeling kicks in for each, so you extend the subs. This is to add abundance to the already varied and detailed zones that have been displayed, and make no mistake they are abundant from what i've seen already! The addition is what I always pictured doing if I ever coded my own version of what you have made, as it keeps things changing. Hope it helps. |

Wait a minute.... this idea suggests that the game resets after a certain amount of time... but... thats not possible...
Or make it so you rotate once every 2-3 months and after you rotate you keep your hex's you captured but the tables would be reversed, but this sounds like a very odd and weird idea, would be good in a non-persistant game but not for Planetside 2. |

Can you expand on odd or weird as it doesn't give me anything to answer.
Thank you for focusing me on what it comes down to. It comes down to dynamic over fixed, I prefer dynamic. Let us hope it has enough to keep me entertained for more than a month or two |

Yeah I considered the idea of rotating warpgates, but there are too many problems in a persistent world.
I did have another idea, where empires could choose which warpgate they wanted to control after taking every territory on a continent, while the other two warpgates would turn into broadcast warpgates which all sides could use (with a minimum of one foothold for each empire which could never be lost unless that empire controlled at least one other foothold at the time). However that idea wouldn't really work until there were more continents. At least 4, preferably 7 or more. |

Yeah, the idea is a bit difficult unless you also reset captured territory at some point. Otherwise your sanctuary ends up deep in enemy territory and each empire has to spend a bunch of time capturing its way back to a front line.

Many thanks for the perspectives, it seems some thought has been given to changing what comes up and prolonging the life of the experience. This is good for those that enjoy the game .
A key for all - You get what you focus on. Fast, shifting, interesting, unique and fresh. Is richer than entrenched, stale, old and slow. Shifting capture points will help, if I am here I will shift empires for an even fuller experience as that will provide what I was looking for above. Last edited by Karrade; 2012-05-19 at 03:47 AM. |

I am not against a sort of reset and switching the start positions. Obviously it could be a nightmare because suddenly people in heated battle just lose everything. I don't think its necessarily the best idea for the health of the game, but I like it and think it would be better.
It would be nice to be able to play and experience all the sides of the battleground from a new perspective once in a while. |
