We all know that the Gakaxy is the new and bigger AMS as well the Sunder is the new and smaller loadstar. Now would it be better to switch there roles? Make the sunder the new AMS as well the galaxy the loadstar as well. I see it as a compromise as alot of vets wanted to see the AMS return and we got the big ol' Galaxy instead. Thoughts ?

From what I understand the point of the sunderer is a vehicle that can take a huge beating and break through the front lines with a squad. But if you can just spawn in one it defeats the purpose, as drivers will just drive empty sunderers around and have people spawn in when they get to the target. So no ams sunderer.
Of course the whole point of the galaxy was that as a pilot you could deliver your troops and then fly back to pick up some more, and do a kind of ferry operation. Now that the galaxy is an ams it's more likely that you will see galaxys park after getting where they are going to be used as a spawn. Maybe there should be some kind of ams station that players buy with resources that and engineer could set up, and is independent of all the vehicles. This would complicate everything a bit more, but also give all the vehicles a more distinct feel and play style as they only really have on job, in terms of their logistics use. |

AMS station that can be loaded into a Gal or Sundie, and requires an engineer to set up sounds like a nice idea, be even cooler if it can be "dropped" during a fly by. I'd want a decently long setup time, like 30 seconds plus though.

I'm willing to guess that the ams function on a galaxy is not standard and is instead a side grade. If thats the case then if a person wants to use the gal as a dedicated transport he can, and if he certs into ams then he will do that.
I'm willing to bet money that this is the way it will work, and that therefore there is no problem with the situation. AMS as it was known back in the day is counter to the goals of the current dev team, which is to restrict the existence of non direct gameplay as much as possible. |

Land vehicles have the ability to approach areas with relative stealth. Finding AMS's was like a needle in a haystack some times and that's not very conducive to action packed, fast paced gameplay. On the other hand, Galaxies create an interesting dynamic, as a gal is quite harder to hide, and easy to spot it coming. With all the units you can carry in it, you could feasibly create a forward operating base with a number of people defending your makeshift tower and others spawning from it and attacking. The moment it gets attacked and things go south, you can attempt to load up fly off to set down at another location. But this in itself has a few dynamics. Like intercepting gals in the air, defending Gal bases and hunting down the bases that exist. You can still hide them somewhat with a cloaking field as I understand it...but likely not when flying or if people spawning out of it are just running right to the target. It provides a lot more interesting gameplay than a land based AMS imo. |
