So what is the drawback of weapon specialisation?

Re-watching the TB+Higby stream and I paused it at 5.41 where Kevmo is spending his cert points on tweaking his combat medics RMR4 assault rifle.

The options are:
  • Attachments
  • Optics
  • Grenade Launcher
  • Underslung shotgun
  • Range
  • Stability
  • Accuracy
  • Damage
  • Magazines

So whats to stop a player from pumping cert points into every one of these, particularly the last 5 on the list and having a much, much better rifle than a new player? At no point is there any mention of a trade off for this rifle - say stability at the cost of accuracy for example.

So, what do you think?

You're only allowed to attach one cert per piece of equipment. So you can get all the certifications you want, but it wont matter as you can only use one at a time.

As per Higby: Weapon customization clarification for @psucom forums - you select one cert-based perk at a time, trade offs! http://yfrog.com/klsu4ewj

Gotcha, so I could only tweak the range of the rifle at any one point for example, along with perhaps optics and an underslung attachment, as well as the texture?

Edit: 6.37 in the video you can see he has 4 options to choose from with his gun - I presume that the 5 cert options are the 5 I was concerned about

Yes, I believe that is how it works.

There will be trade offs. In an earlier vlog Higby did say if you go for higher RoF your damage will decrease to compensate so you arent ass effective at long range. But i would image the same is true for the rest besides optics because that goes to personal preference. As for underslung weapons to rifles i feel that removing your damaging grenade would be a good balance for that considering i havnet heard of any draw back for it... or any info in it either.

Yeah that is what he said, but I was concerned as it wasn't apparent in the video, or at least until I had re-watched a bit more of it!

A radar chart (kiviat diagram) would be a nice addition to help compare pre/post tweaks, or to compare different weapons. Stuff like accuracy, dps, rof, & recoil.

I believe that this information is correct. You are able to have all four attachments at once (a barrel attachment, a magazine attachment, an underslung attachment, etc) and then you are allowed to pick ONE at a time of the performance attachments (range, stability, damage, etc).

And not only will there be camo and color skins for weapons and items, but there will also be entire RESKINS you can buy to make the items and weapons look totally different.

So... damn.. excited.

WHY WON'T THEY TAKE MY MONEY?!

Staring at the video at the second point I mentioned makes me think that the magazine custmoisation option will be part of the range/damage/stability/accuracy option.
