From what I understand of the TB/ Matt Higsby live steam if you have a sniper rifle you cannot have long lasting cloaking, instead you get a shorter duration version. The idea behind the camo is that it trades effectiveness for longevity, it would always be on. Anyone close by would be able to spot you, but people far away will have a lot more trouble. This makes the camo better than the cloaking for snipers, but only if you are in a situation where you won't be up close with the enemy.

In terms of comparing it to the purchasable camo it would be adaptive and better match your surroundings. So if you move between environments, like rocks to grass, or into a building the camo changes with you.

But you have to consider, what is the incentive to buy camo when you have an ability that automatically gives you proper camo for the area?

I imagine that they plan on making a decent bit of profit from people who will purchase a camo scheme for every region they plan on fighting in. So why would they want to deprive themselves of that profit by making something that already does this, automatically, for free?

There isn't an incentive, if you are using the adaptive camo, but if you're using one of the cloaking setups there still would be. Also keep in mind that skins are not going to be the only thing you buy with station cash. We shouldn't keep something out of the game just because it might cause a few people to not buy a camo skin. In the end having players enjoy the class and the game is going to what really cause you to make money.

Re: Infiltrator camo, and other cloak options

I like your idea, it would be pretty cool if they could implement 'adaptive camouflage' as an option as well as what exists already.
Other than that, I hope the infiltrator class's cloak work in these two ways:

- A cloak that is ALWAYS ON when carrying a pistol. You are more visible the faster you move, and 100% invisible while stationary. Just like the Original PlanetSide. Movement while crouching would be less visible than the Sniper stealth, and walking would be about the same amount.

- A cloak that is TIMED, this is what you get if you choose to carry a sniper rifle. This is what we have already seen in PS2, but I would like a confirmation of the pistol only cloak being indefinite. This cloak will conceal you the same amount regardless of movement speed, though you will be visible, yet hard to detect to the naked eye. This is ideal for running from cover to cover.

I honestly think cloakers with pistols should be able to do the same thing in PS2 that they can in PS1. If an enemy doesn't have DL, they can't see you AT ALL if you are still. They will need to shoot in corners and watch their back if they think a cloaker is near!
