Personally I like the AI controlled idea better in any case, I dont know it just gives me a better vibe about it, maybe because of the 'exposed' feeling you get while driving on a road or maybe its just the nostalgic feeling I get from the convoy mission in warcraft 3 () in which the player has no control over the convoy, I hope spme people out there feel the same way Last edited by Dima; 2012-06-04 at 04:51 AM. |

Back to my train suggestion then: it moves along preset routes so players can't drive it off a cliff... it's pretty much the same thing as the AI driver, just a little masked so the AI-phobic won't recoil in horror (so much).

I think it is definitely smart to give a command rank requirement, and maybe even need a cert in the command tree, to start a convoy mission. The missions should always start at the faction's foothold, and I think there should be a few different options for the reward or upgrade recieved when it arrives.
The boosted defenses are a great idea, and another could be some sort of boost for capturing or holding hackpoints in the base. A successful convoy could give that faction a temporary boost in capture rates, or make it harder for enemies to hack the points they hold. PLayers involved in driving or escorting the convoy should be well rewarded as well. A tank driver following the convoy vehicle should get bonus points on everything he does, and maybe a big lump reward on delivery. Of course, there would be a large bounty for destroying an enemy convoy. As for the vehicle itself, I would want something that is big & bulky, and looks like it can haul a lot of cargo and take some real punishment. I think the Elephant from Halo 3 could be a good inspiration: It's big, tough(technically indestructible in the game) and defenders can pile in as it heads along the route. |
