OMG I haven't laughed at an idea so much in a very long time.... going to show that video to my friend he will get a kick out of it. SOEmote.... not for me lol.

It's definitely impressive though it looks like it still needs some work from the build of it in the video. If people want to play games like that go ahead but I think it looks hilarious thats a little too much RP for me.

I really enjoyed Rockstar's Max Payne 3 trailers. They were put together pretty well.

Also, I believe a third-party was involved with the SOEmote software. It's mainly beneficial for role players, which many other SOE games have a lot of.

It's certainly not the most realistic thing in the world, though it's a really neat addition. Leap a few years ahead with wrap around displays as a common setup then voila we have in game heads tracking people looking to their left and right

It's a fun path to explore.

Ah well I don't roleplay. Even more reason to like things which add incidental immersion! Might be surprising how well this casually works on the brain once we're past the pulling-silly-faces phase.

I'm happy to let them try it out on a game and keep working on it.

(EDIT: Btw I do fully expect this to be hilarious for a short while, but in a good way that will recede to general intersting-ness over time. I still haven't got there with the kinect yet, every time we try to go through the calibration steps and make all the camp poses it asks everyone in the house is practically on the floor with laughter

)

I think the trailer have scrolling text that explains the game, followed by actual gameplay.

ie:
"Scrolling Text"
***Image you see*****

"Actual gameplay footage"
***Crazy action scene****
"Huge open world"
*** Show a sky high view of the world, cut into map screen*****
"Multiple vehicles"
*** Show tanks and airplanes and infantry and max suits etc.****
"Largest multiplayer available"
****Show a massive 500+ person battle "all real players" scrolling as the battle is occurring******

End it with
"Its free, get it now @ planetside2.com"

Easy, simple, awesome and works.

Indeed. In fact, when i linked PS2's page to a friend he replied "meh... another FPS, what's special about it?"

The splash screens with the game's perks written across between footage is a good idea, and ending with "it's free" is clever because people will already be excited about the game before they start mulling over their preconcieved ideas on why it could be bad. They'll probably decide to give the game a chance before shunning it, and hopefully they'll get hooked before they notice it. It's evil but if a game delivers what it promises it's for the greater good.

I agree totally no harm to work on it. It is impressive technology. I'd love to see how far they can take it despite the fact that I personally don't like the idea lol
