The devs have said one of the main reasons for the Footholds is so that people are not locked out of content. I actually think that is a great idea. It's something we got used to in PS1, but it is pretty lame to suggest that you are nto allowed to play in a certain area because it is locked, so go play somewhere else instead. Players should be allowed to fight on any continent they want (barring the unavoidable population locks).
That's why I don't see them changing this. I think it's incredibly premature to assume Planetside 2 is going to be a stalemate. This conclusion is based ONLY on speculation. There is absolutely zero data to support this. In fact I think it can be argued that PS1's lattice system was FAR more condusive to stalemates since players were pigeon holed into attacking not only a specific base, but a specific room in order to advance. And we all know PS1 wasn't a stalemate. That's why I believe this perceived problem is a non-issue, and it is much much better to allow players to play where they want at the expense of seeing a continent turn a pretty color on the global map. |

Ya thats what I am saying..... The forum is for speculating what things are going to be like for the fun of it then thinking of ideas or other ways to do it. Then t usually turns out that the devs have all of this already figured out with a far better way of doing things to begin with.
I'm sure this is figured out. I am sure there isn't just going to be a big back and fourth front line I am just interested in seeing what people might think it is. Personally I would love some nearly impossible goal to try and achieve. The Warp Gate swap idea isn't a bad idea. Maybe outfit bases later on is a good way of keep things fresh. |
