Hello everyone!
Following will be a series of stories that follow my character Kayden "Comet" Jackson and his journey's on Auraxis. Each story will feature a few screen shots and a music link that is supposed to help set the mood for the story. Please try to use your imagination as the screen shots I have access to might not be exactly accurate to the story. I hope you all enjoy reading them ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MUSIC for this post - The Terran Republic trooper looked back to his squad leader, Kayden Jackson, yelling to get his attention. "Commander! Over here!" They had been marching for several days. The sun was almost unbearable as it beat down on the soldiers. Their black kevlar molded helmets and armor were unforgiving when it came to keeping the soldiers cool. Sweat streamed down Kayden's face. He was thirsty. He was tired. However, he would not let his weary state show and kept his composure in order to set an example for the rest of the squad that was no doubt on the verge of exhaustion. The course sand crunched under Kayden's dark leather combat boots as he joined his scout on the edge of a rocky plateau. "The power cables are off. It looks like the distress beacon may be a legitimate alarm." The scout looked over at Kayden through his tinted visor that attached to his helmet. "What now sir?" Kayden paused a moment and looked back at his drained squadron. "Ok men! We've located the beacon's source! The journey has been long and harsh, this damn Auraxis sun has been unforgiven! Do not waver! Do not let the mere elements erode your resolve! We are Terran soldiers and we are the only hope for peace and prosperity on this forgotten planet! We will make camp here for the night and rest. Ration what food and water we have left for tomorrow we head into Amp Station Alpha to search for survivors. The Republic watches over us all!" The soldiers snapped their heels together in unison, saluted Kayden and shouted together with discipline, "For the Republic!" "Dismissed!" Kayden shouted back with a stern and commanding voice. The men slowly unpacked supplies and began setting up their portable shelters. Kayden turned his gaze back towards the Amp station as his scout dropped his salute and walked over to aid the other troops with the camp. He kneeled down and grabbed a fist full of the dry, blowing sand. He opened his hand and let it blow over his black gloved fingers. "Auraxis... will your fate be any different than Earth? Brought to the brink of destruction before we unite under a true and peaceful cause?" Kayden had heard of dissenting soldiers scattered over Auraxis. Small pockets of resistance that had broken from the order of the Terran Republic to follow a different ideology or agenda. He was convinced that the Republic was the only way to achieve a peaceful existance for the human race. Afterall, freedom and liberty had only muddied the political waters on Earth and contributed to its near destruction. People needed to be regulated, watched and controlled. The people would be protected by the Republic Government as it had the expertise, knowledge and resources to ensure humanity would not destroy itself. Free thinking had never been a trait of Kayden's. He was young, only 29 and had only ever known the leadership of the Republic. Society on Earth was filled with media supporting the peace and order the Republic had brought. So much so that any naysayers were policed by their fellow citizens. Those critical of the Republic often found themselves socially exiled or kept in low levels with little responsibility in their careers. Dissenters were dangerous and would only help history repeat itself if they were to shake the peaceful foundation the Terran Republic had created from the ashes. Kayden took a deep breath and exhaled with a sigh as he stared stoically at the amp station below. Why would any one go against the Republic? He had only ever seen and known good things come from their rule. There was no truth in the rumours about prisoners being tortured or innocent people being convicted of crimes without just evidence. Why would the Republic do such things? They wouldn't, he thought to himself. The horizon was slowly becoming magnificent colours of deep violet, red and orange as the sun sunk behind the distant cliffs. "I better get some sleep. In the morning we investigate the amp station and find out exactly what happened in there..." Last edited by Comet; 2012-07-20 at 03:08 PM. |
