PS2 Joystick compatible!

I heard in a video that the joystick will be compatible with flying i currently bought the Saitek X52 joystick that has a side trodle. I had and still have a hard time to set it up in PS1 will this be fix for PS2 so we can use the trodle for your speed ?

Ha, I remember purchasing a joystick solely for PS1 the first year it came out. I was so excited but the joystick either had corrupt drivers, or it wasn't compatible with PS1. I thought I would become a pro reaver pilot for sure with one of those!

After flying in PS1 with mouse, I bought and tried out a joystick a month ago. And after a few days of trying went back to mouse.

Yes it's more fun to fly with a joystick, but aiming with a mouse is soooooo much easier.

If you only want to fly a galaxy or loadstar then joystick would be good.

I just hope it's "compatible" and not "required". I like the mouse and keyboard scheme of PS1 but hate the joystick controls of BF3.

I liked flight simulator 10 but when I tried bf3, it was horrible.

The flight mechanics in PS1 were terrible. PS2's physx look to make joystick flight much more enjoyable. Joysticks might not be required, but probably encouraged. Since PS2 is taking modern FPS elements, suffice it to say the flight will be much more robust. After watching TB and others from E3 try to fly, there seems to be a learning curve no matter what tool you use.

I just hope they make it a viable option. Compatibility is one thing, usefulness is an entirely different story.
I had, well technically I still have, my old MS sidewinder which I used to play the flight/space sims of old. Nowadays I have a Thrustmaster collecting dust and I do indeed hope that I will be presented with a good reason to start using it.

TB's a terrible standard of comparison here, as he's an awful player. Few of the devs seem capable of flying very well either.

E3 videos. Not required. Just an option. You may breath.

I had a squee when the GameSpy interview said Higby's got a full flight stick with pedals setup in the office - and that it gets used to play PS2.

...not that I have one, but it would be awesome.

Thumbs up Re: PS2 Joystick compatible!

Glad to hear it has joystick support. I certainly cannot fly a barrel roll with mouse...

Now I wonder will PS2 support proper force feedback (probably too much dev work for too few people).
