I like everything but the infantry and maybe the Prowler more. That Prowler with two cannons might win me over. The Vanguard might be a bit too Abrams-y for me there as well. It's just a shame he put so much work into those for them not to be used.
I can see the argument for the tanks being too close to modern tanks. Last edited by Vanath; 2012-07-28 at 02:15 AM. |

Its interesting how much of it they kept.
- Mosquito, Reaver, and Galaxy are almost identical to their current incarnations, or at least the versions from a few months ago. - Vanguard looks very similar. - Lightning chassis looks very close to its current incarnation. - TR description of infantry mentions them being the most lightweight (i.e. fastest), with the NC having the most protection at the cost of comfort and weight (i.e slow but can take more punishment). So in this incarnation the empire themes were already showing, particularly the new TR theme of speed. - Burst fire on the prowler, like we saw in the GDC video, also fitting with TR theme. And its interesting what changed - Prowler looks nothing like the concept. - Prowler was listed as a stealth tank! Now that would be cool if it lived up to its name. - Vanguard had an artillery mode. - Reaver and Mosquito are listed as Nanite Systems vehicles at this time, and it clearly looks as though the Reaver is intended to be a gunship (anyone remember the two seats in the early reaver render?) - Lightning looks almost like an APC in armament. - TR infantry almost look like Splinter Cell soldiers, makes me wonder if the Prowler Stealth was not the only stealthy part of the TR vision at this time. - And of course the infantry art looks nothing like the present models. I'm willing to bet these concepts were created before T-Ray came in and made some calls about empire shape and color, which caused the Prowler to be radically changed, as well as the infantry uniforms. The mosquito and reaver looked already close to that vision, same with Vanguard. For some reason these pictures and concepts make me think of early renders of Team Fortress 2. http://media.bestofmicro.com/An-earl...W-94604-13.jpg |

I don't particularly like the current Prowler, it does indeed look comical, and I think it needs an overhaul, but at least they didn't decide to go with a generic 'near-future but pretty much identical to contemporary design' theme. |

It's interesting that the Mossie seems to have lost the cheek-mounted sensor spike recently, but it still shows up on the 2D icons in game. Guess that stuff just takes a while to change.
They're certainly very Japanese. e/ Seeing as the Prowler can mount anti-tank rocket tubes, it'd be great if we could respec the Lightning to be like this one, with a slow firing AV rocket launcher and a light AI rotary cannon on the same turret. e2/ Vanguard artillery mode: here, let me just remove the floor so we can elevate the gun enough. *TR rolls grenade under chassis* Last edited by ZaBa; 2012-07-28 at 07:31 AM. |

Thanks for posting this. The Moskito and Reaver somehow look a bit better in those pictures than in game. This Vanguard is hands down better, than what he have in the game now. I'm no fan of how the current Prowler looks, but that concept art isn't doing it for me either. The Infantry doesn't look that bad in my opinion (apart from the NC neck protection) - at least they got armor where there should be some, like a fully covered torso, a covered groin area and neck protection unlike the (NC) models that are in the game now.
What I like best though is, that the NC are depicted as well equipped and professional and not as rebels in worn out lumberjack shirts. |

The artist says he hasn't released everything yet... he's waiting for the game to get closer to release. I bet he's got pretty wild re-imaginings of the Vanu, conceptual sunderers, and maybe the buggies too. |
