Comparing stock to overclocked is not a sound strategy. Nor is comparing something that's be artificially limited to one that has not.

To me Nvidia's turbo is just overclocking without voiding the warranty there is a random element.
Maybe you like to play GPU lotto but I am not particularly interested in what I 'might' be buying. (not to say I hold no value in likely overclockability)
This also slightly devalues factory overclocked cards because all you are doing there is improving your odds at the lotto, where as in the past you would have to void your warranty to play lotto.
The way around this is to buy several Nvidia cards and return anything with low(around the guaranteed max) turbo clocks; not an ideal situation.
(If I bought a GTX670 today and it maxed out at 1050MHz I would send it back, 980Mhz is what you are guaranteed)
Plenty of people have got 1267MHz on reference GTX670 without voiding their warranties.
