I like space too.
I like the idea of having an infantry fight in zero-g on the hull of a ship that is trading fire with another ship.
idk why, but i feel that kerbal space program with multiplayer and weapons would be such a ebtter space battle game...its just so....addicting...

yeah it would be nice, but he was quite clear he wasnt giving any up during the AMA, im willing to bet they wont say anything until a bit after PS2 has taken off just to avoid distracting people from this game.

When the kernel is combined with a specific set of programs inside a file system that is organized to a particular standard, it becomes Unix or "unix-like".

Mac OS is based on BSD, which is Berkley University Science Department's Unix-like open source operating system. Linux is its own open source Unix-like operating system based on code that is not based on BSD. MacOS is not open source, but FreeBSD is. As a result, they are very different in capabilities, especially OpenGL (the 3D rendering abilities). While FreeBSD and Linux have binary compatibility packages that allow FreeBSD programs to work in Linux (and vice versa), that does not mean MacOS programs will work in either FreeBSD or Linux.

Why is that?

The simple answer is that Apple does not share the libraries of source code that many of their programs use, so it's not really possible to make binary compatibility packages for them for FreeBSD or Linux. I am sure Apple does this because those programs (like it's user interface) would work fine in FreeBSD and Linux, which would kinda sorta drop the retail value of their products, ya know.

That said, OpenGL for Linux and FreeBSD is solid. The worst part is poor drivers from both AMD and Nvidia. Current Nvidia drivers refuse verticle sync in Linux 64bit, even just browsing the internet, but they work great in Windows 7and MacOS, for instance.

As far as having PS2 in MacOS and not in FreeBSD or Linux, it boils down to proprietary drivers and MacOS's better use of OpenGL.
Hear, hear, excellent assessment!

Windows 8 won't be competing against Linux, it will be competing against Windows 7. Windows 8 may suck, but anytime a Windows version sucks, it is always the previous version that flourishes until another Windows version comes along that can dethrone it.

Also, from the point of view of just gaming and game development, Linux isn't exactly a good platform. Direct3D API is far superior to OpenGL in both features and ease of development.

If Linux gets more attention from the gaming market, it WILL be more accepted by desktop users as a viable OS... that and 3D design/ 2D designers as that goes as well.

Wouldn't that be more like player made and controlled ICBMs?

if they were ramming each other sure, but there are basic weapon mods now that add missles and lasers. with the free dom that game gives you for creation an exploration now, combiend with the eventual multiplayer and 40-50 planets the devs want in the game. it would be absolutly awesome for a space combat or minecraft esc exploration game
