I take it back .... a real hero, he had to fight the US authorities to go to the action and when he did it was a pilot in liberators and as a commanders ....... I recall he remained in the US Air reserve for many years after the war.. Aslo --- David Niven .... took part in the Normandy operation as liaison between US and British forces ...
