Default sniper scope magnification?

I'm considering trying out some of the different scopes on my beloved Bolt Driver. Anyone know what the default zoom is by way of comparison?

Was 7x in beta at one point when they listed it.

Interesting that they have changed it.

I note that there is a 7x scope available for certs, so presumably the default scope is not now 7x.

I'm getting on quite well with the default scope, but am curious about using the others. Anyone got any experience of the higher magnification scopes? Is the extra magnification really worth the loss of field of view, and is the sway magnified as you would expect in real life?

I almost exclusively use the 12x scopes, the sway is pretty huge on long range shots where the target has just rendered but it does make the long shots on the default scope a heck of a lot easier and the loss of peripheral vision is easily dealt with by moving after every shot.

Re: Default sniper scope magnification?

When I played a bunch of infiltrator in beta, I was fond of the 10x scope, just the right combination of zoom and view for me personally. I tried out the 12x and it was a bit too much.

Now, I pretty much just play HA with a Warden and a 4x scope, which is pretty good for counter sniping and clearing high spots people forget to cover at sort of mid to mid-long range.

I wonder if they'll add a way to trial attachments as well as weapons, because I think the scope thing (and sights for that matter) is very personal preference based. I mean, if you're comfortable with the default scope i'd say stick with it, but it would be nice if you could try out a scope for a bit and see what it's like.

Interesting thoughts on scopes here. Not having played Infil that much, I've been trying out the default weapon and some trials recently. Starting to like the role, but I think I prefer a shorter range scope so I can get closer and sneak in. Good notes on the 12x sway though.

Yes please. 30 certs for a scope feels about 'right' but it's still an investment in time, and when you're picking between 4 which are functionally very similar it's annoying to pick one and then find you just don't like it, and have to work up the certs again.

I know there are videos and piccies which show them all, but you really need to use them to find out that (for instance) whilst a three chevron reticle looks like it'll be really good, you actually hate it when you try to use it.

Or that a particular scope is great when you're looking down it, but has such a big, boxy housing that it takes up an irritating amount of screen room all the rest of the time
